July Thoughts for the Day

July 31, 2018

Thought for the Day

What you think something is,
is not what it actually is.

What you think is happening,
is not what is actually
happening.

What you think something means,
is not what it actually means.

Given this, why do you
surrender your will, the greatest power
in the universe because it is the only power,
to the thinking mind, mistaking its contribution
for the truth, rather than the telltale sign
of certain madness?

Do you not recognize that this
is how the impostor which is merely
posing as you is birthed?

***

Prayer for the Day

One mantra for today:

I rule the mind,
the mind does not nor can it rule me,
unless, of course, I let it.

Therefore, step away,
step away!

Note to self:

See if you can spot the ruse
before you fall
for the bait and switch
from the peanut gallery.

Amen

Thought for the Day

Nothing, absolutely nothing,
in all creation can oppose your will.

This is because nothing
in all creation can oppose God's.

The power of your will
is the very power of God.

For too long you have hid your light
under a bushel.

Not cool. Not cool.

Today, whatever happens,
lean in and trust.

Spread the mighty wings
of that ole heart of yours
and give welcome to what is.

And real eyes this:

To be a changer of worlds,
you must remember that
freedom is not won through tyranny,
and equality is not realized
through dominion of one will
over another.

For until all beings are seen as brother
or sister and treated as such,
until the planet is treated
as the expression of divinity
it actually is, humankind will continue
to spiral rapidly toward its oblivion.

Get up. Get off your ass. Join your light
with light workers everywhere,
providing a net that safely cradles
all beings including mother earth
and Her environment,
and be the change,,,,
be the change....

...you wish to see in the world
beginning with you.

***

Prayer for the Day

Time to stop bitching about
what's wrong and get to work.

Words, no matter how lofty,
don't change the minds of men.

But wielding the power
of light overcomes
the illusion of darkness
every time...every time.

And nothing can defeat
a heart as wide as the world.

Amen

July 29, 2018

Thought for the Day

Sunday is practice day.

The seat of your will
is your heart, wherein the Self
you truly are abides.

You are not the mind.

You are the Self Supreme.

The mind has no autonomy,
nor does it have any control over you---
unless you, as an act of will,
give your power away, preferring
to wear the mask of victim instead.

Do not mistake this as a sign
of weakness, of possessing a will
which is uncertain or irresolute.

For it takes a tremendous act of will
to reduce a power as great
as that of the mighty sun to that
of a tiny firefly.

Mind is simply the light
which streams forth from
the heart center.

By your will you and you alone
determine your own condition.

You can use this will
to do only one of two things:

to separate or to join.

If the will is used to miscreate
the illusory experience
of separation, suffering is inevitable.

But if the will is used to join,
love and harmony spill forth from the heart
to fill all of awareness, and your presence
becomes a blessing which literally
knows no bounds.

No will in heaven or earth
has the power to oppose yours.

Knowing this, that your will is the
means by which you make every decision,
how will you use your will today?

***

Prayer for the Day

Today the might of my will
walks clearly in the space before me.

As an act of conscious will, I join mine
with that of all living beings
in recognition
of our shared identity.

May all beings be happy,
this heart prays.

May all beings be free.

And may I remember
in every act, in every encounter,
regardless how brief, small
or seemingly insignificant,
my enlightenment depends upon this,
my enlightenment depends upon you.

Amen

July 28, 2018

Thought for the Day

Healing is a collaborative effort.

This collaboration
is between the inner teacher or guru
and yourself.

Someway somehow
you must arrive at the conclusion,
neither by collusion nor indoctrination,
that IT knows what to do, and that
you, left to your own devices, do not.

Until you arrive at this conclusion
(a) you will be consciously
unaware of the inner guide's presence,
and (b) you will not choose to follow IT
rather than yourself.

What is will?

Is it not the conscious awareness
of what you elect to do
and the power or strength to do it
without deviation from
the chosen course?

Without your will,
rehabilitation is impossible,
and let's face it----
your mind is in desperate need
of some serious rehabilitating.

Rehabilitation means healing.

If rehabilitation or healing
is a collaborative effort,
and if you refuse to join your will
with that of your inner teacher's,
you have made a rather bold
and brazen decision
to not heal.

Thus, healing is now impossible.

Healing is what occurs
spontaneously through joining
your will with that of your guides's,
for this choice results in awakening
to pure nondual awareness.

Thus, healing is the only way
that separation or duality is overcome,
for healing means UNION.

Prayer for the Day

Into Thy hands I commend
my spirit.

Amen

Thought for the Day

Why is the full moon day
in the month of July each year
so auspicious?

It is because it is the day
when we celebrate and honor all gurus,
or spiritual teachers,
without which we would
all be lost to the madness of ego.

We pray for their health
and long life.

And we pray for their blessings
upon our lives.

We pray that their light remains
with us always, for without it,
this world would be dark indeed.

Today I remember my first guru,
my human father.

He taught me to be strong,
to be brave, and to trust myself.

He taught me that we are all equal,
no one higher or lower than another.

And I bow before the presence
of the inner guru, without which
the grace which is my life
would not be.

I pray for all teachers
everywhere in the ten directions
and the three times.

***

Prayer for the Day

With humbleness of heart
and immense gratitude
I bow before the sacred presence of
all teachers everywhere
and throughout all time.

July 26, 2018

Thought for the Day

How can you tell whether or not
you or another is coming from ego
or from the soul?

The answer really is quite simple.

Ego always comes from a place
of neediness. Ego either wants
to get something from the exchange,
or it feels it needs something
from it in order to feel complete or whole.

This can be almost anything---
from validation, to moral support,
someone to agree with you,
a sympathetic ear when you happen to be
sitting on the pity pot.

While the soul has one longing
and that is for the mystery
of true intimacy.

And what else could this kind of intimacy
be pointing us toward other than
relationship which is born of holiness---
recognized and embraced,
of union, the longing to know fully
and be fully known with neither
condition nor expectation
other than the sharing of love.

***

Prayer for the Day

Break this heart!

Oh, break this heart!

Break it again and again
and again, so that I
can learn to love even more.

Amen

July 25, 2018

Thought for the Day

What if it were given you today,
just for this day,
the ability to bypass the mind entirely;
to sidestep all judgments,
to disregard every bias, to remain
undisturbed by conditioning,
untouched by memories, utterly unconcerned
about how others perceive you,
and every other potential unknown
without exception?

Why, from this untouched palette
you could lavish freely
and without reservation
the gifts of God
upon all living beings,
could you not?

In each and every instant of the Living Now,
Shiva and Parashakti, or truth and love,
are making love with one another,
endlessly spawning the universe
in its entirety.

And it is your good fortune
to be their instrument, tasked with
the mission of extending their gifts
where they were intended.

How could this be upon anything
other than all living things?

My dear, it is you. Yes you!

This world is none other than their progeny,
and you are the chosen medium
for the unceasing expansion
of their blessings.

Let's face it.

The only thing standing in the way
of completing your mission
is your mind.

But the mind is not your master,
and you its hapless victim.

Remind the mind
it is not the boss, for it was never
meant to be anything
other than your good and faithful servant.

***

Prayer for the Day

Yes, dear universe,
I will be the One.

Amen

July 24, 2018

Thought for the Day

I have felt a deep dismay of late
as I have observed spiritual teachers
actually promote a state of confusion
within those willing to listen to
or follow them.

They are doing this by self-promotion
of the insights and revelations
which have helped them,
making wrong all other
teachers and teachings
without actually calling them out
by names, despite how obvious their tactics.

Most are quite passionate
and sincere in this activity
and cannot see the harm
in their actions.

Rather than seeing that they found a way
that worked well for them,
one way among many ways,
they speak of their way
as if it were the only way,
and anyone unwilling to see
as they see is screwing up.

And this has been ruinous
to the experience of peace to many
sincere and lovely human beings.

For it has produced
little more than a state
of confusion and worry.

For now they see what appears
to be contradictions
between one teacher or teaching
and the next, and fear
making the wrong choice.

Let me assure you
that you cannot make
a wrong choice.

The universe loves you
and you will find your way Home,
for the goal is as certain as God.

It is okay! It's all about grace.

Everything is grace.

***

There is an old story in the Vedas
about two very good friends,
a rabbit and a mole.

Now the rabbit and the mole
lived in a time of great drought,
and each day they would
set out together in search of water.

And each evening
they would return home
having found none.

On the final evening when they both knew
that if they did not find water
they would surely die,
they decided to make a pact with one another
and try something different.

Mole said, "I will head north.
and you head east. And if one of us
finds water, call out for the other, okay?"

Rabbit exclaimed, "Oh yes!
I am certain I will be the one
to find the water.
After all, I have had the best
teachers in this life!
Why I have studied many different
teachers and teachings
and followed many paths!"

Mole replied, "I am certain
you will be the one to find the water,"
feeling a bit envious of his friend.

"I have only ever had one teacher,
followed one teaching,
and one path
all of my life!"

"Poor thing," thought mole.

He didn't know whether
to feel smug about his good fortune
or to feel sorry for his friend.

But the next morning
they both set out in their appointed
direction and not soon afterward,
rabbit heard the telltale sound of
glugh, glugh, glugh, glugh....

He turned just as mole popped
his head out of the ground
and shouted at him, "Did you find water?"

"Why, yes, I did!" said mole.

Rabbit exclaimed, "That isn't fair!
I was the one who was supposed
to find it! I am the one who has studied
with all the best teachers, learned
all the noble teachings,
followed all the great paths!"

Mole replied humbly, "I don't
know what to tell you.
You are right. You should have
been the one to find it.
You have had many more advantages
and studied many more things
while I have had only one teacher
and followed only one path
and have done so all of my life."

Rabbit asked, "Who was this great
teacher that you followed.
Tell me so that I can follow him too!"

Mole said, "My teacher was my father.
And he only taught me one thing."

"What was that?" asked rabbit.

"Dig deep!" said mole.

***

The point of this story,
if you haven't already gotten it,
is that we do not pick our path,
our path picks us.

And we recognize it because
of the deep resonance we feel
when we discover it.

And having discovered it,
we stop searching
and start digging deep.

We trust.

We give our hearts to it.

We follow it with sincerity and simplicity
each and every day, applying it
to our life circumstances as well as
to our inner experience.

And we never ever forget
that we cannot mess this thing up.

And we celebrate and honor
all paths, reveling that the universe
has a path that suits everyone.

And we remember to pause
and offer thanks for the path
that has been given us.

How precious is this life!

What a gift! What a gift!

Do you real eyes that you are so fortunate
to be exactly where you are?

For you have arrived at the appointed time
and everything is unfolding
exactly as it should.

***

Prayer for the Day

Today I walk and live in trust.

Everything is unfolding
EXACTLY as it should.

How can I fail when it is LOVE
which leads the way
and lights the path?

Amen

Thought for the Day

Another practice is offered today.

This practice will help you eliminate
much of the misery you experience
throughout the day,

These are your instructions.

Before doing anything,
search the mind for the reasons
that you are doing it.

Look carefully and leave
no stone unturned.

You see, you need not change
what you do, but it is indeed
most helpful to examine
'why' you are doing it'

What are you
looking to get out of it?

Are you doing it for the joy of it?

Or are you doing it
to raise the ego's self esteem
in some way?

I will offer an example.

Let's say that I work
as a social worker.

And in my job as a social worker,
how I feel about myself and my life
changes dozens of times
each and every day.

It is also helpful to note at this point
that this is how I felt about
myself and my life
most of the time before
going into this profession
in the first place.

(So it might be helpful to look deeper
at what I thought might change for me
if I changed professions.)

But back to our example....

Because I basically feel crappy
about my life most of the time, I can
hardly drag myself out of bed
in the morning and feel tired
and overwhelmed by life
much if not most of the time.

Now, I am off to my first client's home.

I have a perfect agenda
of what I want to accomplish
set in my mind
for this home visit.

If it goes my way, and the client
is doing everything I had hoped for
and more, them I can
come away from the visit
feeling wonderful about myself,
congratulating wonderful 'me'
for 'my' accomplishment.

But if they have not done anything
for which they had previously agreed
and they are not the least bit interested
in agreeing to suggestions today,
I can leave their apartment,
sit in my car and lick my wounds,
beat myself up, and tell myself
what a f _ _ _king failure I am.

However, if I go into the visit,
feeling I am already whole, already complete,
that nothing can add to my wholeness
and nothing can diminish it in any way,
that I am already fully accomplished,
then I go into that encounter
without expectstions
and I know that the desire to be helpful
does produce results
even if they are not always tangible.

This is all.

May your practicing be joy-filled.

And if you feel the urge to share,
I invite you to do so.

***

Prayer for the Day

Let's do this!

I have a day of care to see about
and ask that love
live me.

Amen

July 22, 2018

Thought for the Day

Sunday is practice day.

Your assignment for today
has two parts.

Part I

More than two decades ago now,
I experienced a spiritual crisis of sorts
over the following passage
from A Course In Miracles:

"The Oneness of the Creator and the creation
is your wholeness, your sanity,
and your limitless power.
This limitless power is God’s gift to you,
because it is what you are.
If you dissociate your mind from it,
you are perceiving the most powerful force
in the universe as if it were weak
because you do not believe you are part of it."

T-7,VII.65.4-6

During this period of my life,
I was forced, due to circumstances
prevalent at the time,
to address two deeply cherished beliefs:

The first was a belief that love
or light was not more powerful
than the darkness i was experiencing
or that seemed to prevail in this world.

The second, even more difficult to face,
was that I did not see myself
as part of the light, as I felt so weakly connected
to it that I certainly could not wield it
with any authority or hope
to be successful were I to sincerely try.

Thus, your first assignment
to the reflect honestly,
searching both mind and heart,
for where you might be stuck
with regard to old beliefs.

Part II

If light goes with you everywhere,
then darkness cannot abide in you
any more than darkness
can abide anywhere you go.

So the second portion of your assignment
is to consciously and lovingly
shine the light upon
the darkness of ignorance
whenever and wherever
it appears.

Feel the limitless power of love and light
swelling and expanding from deep within,
sharing its radiance with all living beings
in the ten directions and the three times.

You are more powerful
than you know!

Yes, my dear, you are all that!

***

Prayer for the Day

This little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine.

Let it shine
let it shine
all the time.

Amen

July 21, 2018

Thought for the Day

Today is a perfect day for exploring
the subject of impermanence.

While Buddhists and Hindus
could give you many scholarly reasons
why our human lives are subject
to constant change, we will keep
our examination
both simple and practical.

To do so, we will discuss
four specific reasons
that make our experience
of the volatility and changeability
of our lives both precious and valuable.

Reason #1

If the eternal state is changeless,
boundless and without limit
of any kind, then in order
to make a world that seems
its opposite in every way
would necessitate a construct
where change, uncertainty
and conflict reigned.

Why would you want to create
such a world you ask?

That's like the perennial question
of "which came first,
the chicken or the egg?"

Is falling asleep and forgetting
the cause of such a world?

Or did the appearance of such a world
instigate our forgetting?

In the end, it matters not.

For if you are experiencing a body
and a world, then you are here
for one reason: to awaken
from the dream state.

We do so when we see that
the only way out of an illusion
is to recognize that
you were never in it in the first place.

For you see what you are not
from what you are, but you cannot
see what you are from
what you are not.

Reason #2

The second reason, is born of the first.

The presence of a human experience
fraught with impermanence
serves as a constant reminder
as we go through the motions
of our day-to-day lives
that this is not the eternal,
it is not the changeless,
and is therefore a hallucinatory state
of epic proportion.

With this awareness keenly present
in the foreground of our experience,
we are beginning to wake up
and see through the flimsy house of cards
where we have sought to make our home.

Reason #3

Since this is a world where egoic identity
is the predominant human experience,
a world of constant change
which is perceived as both
inner and outer, the ego
is ravaged of its belief
that it has any control over anything,
which, ultimately, is the basis
of its own undoing.

The ego never surrenders willingly.

Even when it pretends to do so,
it demonstrates its unwillingness
to let go of the reigns
by setting the terms and conditions
of its surrender.

Look about you.

Is this not abundantly evident,
regardless of whether
we are speaking of nations
or individuals?

Thus, one is ready to awaken
when the realize that
they are not really giving up control,
they are merely giving up the belief
that they ever had any in the first place.

Reason #4

Lastly, our final reason for why
impermanence is so precious a commodity
is that it leaves our lives open to
the possibility of renewal,
growth and expansion,
without which we would have
no cause to hope.

In other words, only in a world
of impermanence is there
the ever present potential
for awakening.

Therefore, let us take a few moments
from time to time today
to be grateful for this gift.

***

Prayer for the Day

Thank you for this life
as it is.

Amen

July 20, 2018

Thought for the Day

Repeat after me:

Everything is unfolding
with perfect precision
exactly as it is supposed to.

If it was supposed to be different,
it would be.

Thus, this experience, as is every experience,
meant to be exactly as it is.

Let me relax, accept and trust that.

If and when I am supposed
to do something,
I will receive guidance.

For now, my part
is to recognize and trust
that this is here to help me.

The thoughts that are arising
are meant to be here.

If they were not supposed to be here,
then they wouldn't be.
I would have different thoughts
or no thoughts.

The feelings that are arising
are meant to be here.

If they were not supposed to be here,
then they wouldn't be.
I would be having different feelings
or no feelings.

With every thought that arises,
every feeling that appears,
and with every experience or encounter,
who or what is aware of them?

Am I the object in the awareness,
or the awareness itself?

Light NEVER judges darkness.

Light never attacks darkness.

But it does shine it away!

Question:

If light goes with you wherever you go,
what's the problem?

HUMBLY AND GRATEFULLY
OPEN YOUR EYES.

***

Prayer for the Day

Getting waaay too caught up
in the character playing his role
on stage, rather than
bringing the focus of attention
to the projector.

Help me keep the lamp
of awareness
attuned to the play of light
rather than the critic
whose focus is always
on shadows.

Amen

July 19, 2018

Thought for the Day

Until we are ready to embrace
our spiritual path with great authenticity,
openness, vulnerability, gentleness,
intimacy, tenderness and compassion,
the ego's preferred m.o. is usually
limited to one or more of the following:
numb, distract, freeze, fight,
flee or shut down.

Recently I have noticed
a pattern unfolding
in the experience of many
that I find to be a rather dark view
and highly misleading.

Everywhere you look,
folks are tasting the bliss of freedom,
are experiencing moments of deep clarity,
openness and change, but feel chagrined
to find themselves back in the weeds
on a frequent basis.

I have watched them judge themselves
unfairly and use spiritual speak
to describe what they are doing 'wrong,'
showing not a single ounce of kindness,
of tenderness, mercy or compassion
while they are doing it.

I hear things such as:

"I see I am very much living in
and indulging a split mind."

"I guess that I just haven't been sincere
in my decision to wake up,
because I keep going back to the ego."

But what if nothing were wrong?

What if all that was needed was a little help with
re-contextualizing one's experience?

What if what we were
witnessing happening was a simple,
though perhaps uncomfortable,
process of alchemy?

In the Middle Ages,
alchemy was a practice devoted
to turning base metals
into pure gold, in an attempt to discover
a universal solvent and elixir of life.

And you know what?

There is no alchemy without
a lot of heat and a lot of friction.

What if the work
both before and after spiritual awakening
was more a matter of learning how
to open the flower of our being
increasingly so that more of life
could actually get in?

And as we learn to open
with increasing sincerity and weightiness
of intention, what if what was really going on
was the discovery of the depth of our willingness
to meet head-on the very stuff
that we have spent lifetimes avoiding?

And what if all of this was transpiring
so that what has not been loved by us
and what has not been embraced
by the light of our consciousness
could begin to do so?

One interpretation is a reaction
while the other one is a response.

And the choice to react
becomes a prison cell,
while the choice to respond
brings increasing freedom and peace.

And what if there was a clear and unbiased
reciprocal relationship
between the depth and the fullness
with which we are willing to meet
our inner experience of life
and our ability to actually encounter
life itself as it truly is?

Like using a muscle
which has never been used before,
what if we were cultivating a vision which is
entirely uncolored and uncluttered
by the patterns of our conditioning,
our judgments, our stories,
our positionalities, preferences,
interpretations and meanings?

What if we were learning the difference
between experiencing our divinity
and actually embodying it?

What if....

What if...

.....everything was not only okay,
but actually unfolding perfectly?

***

Prayer for the Day

Today I trust.

Thank you for my life,
exactly as it is.

Amen

37 "Nay, in all these things
we are more than conquerors
through him that loves us.

38 For I am persuaded,
that neither death, nor life, nor angels,

nor things present, nor things to come,

39 Nor height, nor depth,
nor any other creature,
shall be able to separate us
from the love of God."

"And I need to fix that."

"I have this yet to accomplish."

"When this happens,
I can think about that."

"I have to overcome this, etc., etc."

***

But Mooji says:

"The ship is going by a mighty engine,
and you are busy rowing it."

***

Mind searches and searches and searches
for someone or something
to complete itself.

But what it really needs,
and does so desperately,
is to find the One
Who will accept it completely.

That One is within you.

Carl Jung said:

"Your vision will become clear
only when you can look
into your own heart.

Who looks outside, dreams;
who looks within awakens."

Within you is One
Who says you are already perfect,
I accept you exactly as you are.

And the funny thing is,
we postpone coming into this Embrace,
feeling there is some sense of wholeness
we must achieve first,
when that very wholeness
can only be found by returning
to the Embrace.

This is what I know.

I felt this presence
from deep within
which I clearly recognized
as the Source of Love itself.

It wasn't Christian, Hindu, Buddhist,
Sufi, Muslim, Jain
or anything else

I had many excuses
about what i needed to change
and do first.

But in the end I thought, "Well, maybe,
I'll just stay for a few minutes."

It just would not stop.
Persistently it wooed me.

So poignant and urgent
was Love's call, so unconditionally accepting,
that I allowed myself to return,
to enter the Embrace and be loved.

And in that LOVE I found
the healing for which this heart
had always yearned and searched.

The instant I said "yes," I was swept
into a current that changed
this little life forever.

I could no longer remember
all the things I had to do.

They were gone.

And not just gone,
they could no longer be
recalled or remembered,
as was judgment, fear and guilt.

And now my life's mission is to correct
all the defamation of character
we do to each other, do to ourselves,
crucifying each other, crucifying ourselves,
crucifying our world, day in and day out.

If God accepts and receives us as we are,
why can we not extend the selfsame grace
unto all of life?

Thought for the Day

Sometimes I feel in such a quandry
to find words with which to speak
and share, for they are
so pitifully inadequate,
even as pointers.

And I understand why great mahatmas
from the past taught only in silence.

For an ounce of direct experience
is worth a ton of theory.

Each day whatever 'I' this is
that speaks
grows increasingly distant
from this world and rendered mute.

Then a thought arises:

"I used to see that."

"I used to feel that."

"I used to believe that."

"That used to disturb me too."

And yet I no longer seem to be able
to pick up enough threads of that story
so that I, too, can prattle on and on
about nonsense as though it is truth---
nonsense which I too damn near beat to death
because now...now... I can not find it.

All I can say is this:

I was touched by something so magnificent,
so beautiful, so immense
and boundaryless
that I was nothing more than
a tiny infinitesimal speck of dust
before Its might.

And yet never have I felt so loved,
so cherished, adored and important.

And as I allowed this love
to sweep in and heal
this hard and bitter shell,
all that had been formerly accumulated
in terms of what it thought it knew
disappeared until nothing remained
and she, herself, disappeared entirely
into the very heart of This.

Call it what you may.

Words are meaningless.

I know now why some religions
say that the name of God
cannot be spoken.

Once you have assigned
any word to IT----you have neutered it,
castrated it, spayed it,
bastardized ITS glory.

I am sincerely not interested
in listening to any more bullshit.

I am done with arguments
about right feelings and wrong feelings.

And I am seriously done
with getting caught up in drama
and victimhood and debates
over more and more b.s. that has
absolutely no eternal significance.

The Lord of Life itself
abides in this heart
and it is to this and this alone
that I take refuge.

Prostrate...forever prostrate
before Its LIGHT.

And as I bathe in this light,
the so-called light of this world
becomes a more distant memory
and all there is is This....This...
only This...

There is no condemnation in God.

There is no judgment,
no sin, no error, no change.

Only freedom
and blissful blissful love
and acceptance.

Leave the dreams of this world behind
to those who prefer the narcotized stupor
of beating on drums.

And jeeze Louise am I tired
of who has the bigger you-know-what.

Pick up your mat and come quickly!

Make haste!

Remember, you choose between EVERYTHING
and nothing.

But if you keep choosing this world,
if you keep choosing nothing,
you will believe that all of this is real,
and because the nature of illusion
is that it begets further illusions,
you will spend what is left
of your dream lifetime
sorting out and rearranging
the deck chairs
on your own personal Titanic.

For having believed this is real,
which is a defiant rejection of the truly REAL,
you will find plenty to condemn
and judge against because you gotta have
something wrong in order to continuously validate
that what could never happen and never be
actually is and has.

Light of this heart live me.

Thought for the Day

For those of you who know a bit about
the chakra system, there are seven
primary chakras which correspond
to specific regions or areas
within the brain and along the spine.

The heart chakra, located midway
between the two breasts,
is very very important.

Why?

Because there are three chakras
below it and three chakras above it.

It serves as a gateway or door
between the individual and the universal,
the human and the Divine,
earth and Heaven.

All things serve to help you open
this door when you choose
to live a heart-centered life.

And why would you not wish
a heart-centered way of being
which is in the world but not of it?

Is this not what our world
is pleading for so poignantly?

And does it not reflect
your deepest yearning too?

After all, what has mental preoccupation
ever really offered you
that was stable and forever kind?

There is one thing
which stands hands and shoulders
above the rest, when it comes
to things which are most helpful
with opening the gateway
between the human and the Divine
and that is gratitude.

Therefore, as you approach your day today,
besides challenging yourself with the willingness
to explore the breadth of your loving
and the depth of your prssence
in the very midst of your life
precisely as it unfolds, trusting that
all that occurs hides a hidden treasure
awaiting your discovery, pause
and take the time to offer
your most sincere and heartfelt gratitude.

For the gift of life is a glorious thing,
worthy of your most authentic
and heartfelt appreciation.

July 15, 2018

Thought for the Day

Sunday is practice day.
(For Shoragim)

There came a time in this being's journey
when it recognized quite clearly
that it had spent it's entire lifetime
shutting people out, shutting God out,
and that despite appearing to be
(at least most of the time)
a warm, kind and caring person,
there was a hardened shell
of contraction and resistance
that kept the world safely at bay,
at least that was its intent.

It didn't always work, but it worked
often enough that the ruse was
believed to be necessary
and was thus honed to an art form.

Time passed.

So habitually was the world
kept at a safe distance from myself,
yet that did not prevent life from
somehow seeping in,
despite heroic efforts
to prevent it from happening.

Here I fanned the flame
of my specialness, my distinctiveness,
my superiority.

More time passed
and I began to see the cleverness
of the prison cell I had made
for myself.

Dysfunction, chaos and calamity
became my home,
while I, always peering into
the microscope of my mind,
spent my days critiquing
and cataloging my failures,
congratulating myself on my successes,
spinning madly like a whirling dervish
in a world of self-deception,
a steaming hybrid of chicken little
and Walter Mitty.

An ego-maniac
with an inferiority complex,
I no longer recognized myself,
and the day came when I just could not
stand to prop it all up any longer.

It is a terrible terrible dark hour
when you realize
that no one has done this to you.

You have done this to yourself.

When the gig is finally and truly
and irrevocably up,
there is nothing you can do
but cry out for help.

And when you cry out for help
from this space of desperation,
help comes like a tidal wave.

What happened for the next few years
was the awakening of the heart.

Each new encounter,
every experience, every thought
and every feeling
was met with a curiosity,
an openness and a welcoming.

No longer afraid of my own shadow,
I began to fall in love with myself and with life..

Every time it was thought
that this heart could not possibly
contain more, it opened wider
and deeper and took what is as it is
into the infinite wealth of its being,
proving that the heart is a veritable
cornucopia which knows no bounds!

And this is your assignment
for today:

Rather than follow your usual m.o.
of contraction in order
to hold life at bay,
walk the path of freedom
by surrendering to what is.

Make it a game for yourself.

How fully can you let life in?

Can you trace the delicate edges of what is,
flowing through the intricate patterns
of your life, merging with it?

Can you give yourself to your life
without reservation,
immersing yourself in it as it is,
completely, in all its glorious messiness?

Can you meet your life
without resistance?

And when you feel yourself
contracting, despite your best efforts
not to do so, can you flow
into that resistance and meet it
with gentleness, with kindness,
tenderness and compassion,
as a mother would embrace
the child she loves with all her heart
when it falls and skins its knee?

This, my dears, is life;
glorious, exhilarating, fleshy life,
lived on the razor's edge of eternity.

***

Prayer for the Day

Come Home life.

Come Home world.

Come Home God.

I welcome every bit of you back

Thought for the Day

In the end, what matters most in this life
is not whether you can fix something,
change it or make it better.

What matters most
is how deeply you can open
to the hurts, the disappointments
and confusion, that which outrages
or offends, in the bleakness
of uncertainty and self-doubt.

Can you do this with a great softness,
a profound tenderness and trust?

Can you trust that though
things may not be rolling out
as you would prefer, that an Intelligence
and Wisdom greater than you
can presently summon
KNOWS that this is precisely
what you need to deepen your life
both in and as spirit, and that this
is equally true for everyone involved?

Despite someone's words
or their behavior, can you say:

"Here is one with whom
I am forever ONE."

"To this there can be no exceptions."

"You are part of my peace."

"You are part of my freedom."

"You are part of my happiness."

Then let the lamp of your grattitude
light the path of love
wherein you take your brother's hand
and walk each other HOME.

July 13, 2018

Thought for the Day

It is the belief in ownership
of thoughts, feelings and experiences
the perpetuates the experience
of suffering.

No one and no thing
can make you suffer, only you,
and this you do
by staying in your head.

Suffering is a mind game,
darlin, pure and simple.

Be willing today
to try something new.

First, be deeply aware of what is occurring
within your inner experience
the next time that you think
something you don't want to happen
is either happening,
'might' happen or is eminent.

Do you feel the body become rigid
and tighten up against the experience?

Is there a sense of bracing yourself,
of girding your loins?

Is there a habitual pattern
of reaction that stoically and reflexively says,
"Let's get through this the best we can,
but under no circumstances
will I allow any part of it to touch me!"?

Or do you feel yourself
soften around it, choosing to trust
the universe, that if this is happening,
it is supposed to be happening,
therefore, can I make room for the possiblity
of making peace with this?

Your assignment for today
is to make room for miracles.

You invite a miracle each time you feel
yourself soften and yield to your life,
rather than get caught up in the inner world
of mental gymnastics that is going on
between your two ears.

Here is the novel.

Here is the new.

Life is not your enemy, honey.

Will you be its friend?

***

Prayer for the Day

Today I say 'yes' to life.

Won't you be my beloved,
won't you be my friend?

Thought for the Day

Please please listen to me.

Listen to your heart.

LOVE knows no race,
no gender, no creed, no religion,
no boundaries, no limits,
and NEVER hesitates to give
all of Itself unconditionally.

Love loves Donald Trump as much
as the tiny babe separated
from its mother.

Love loves you enough
to let you cling to what you are not
and defend what isn't real or true
until you grow weary of your game,
releasing what is not real
so that what remains
is a clear reflection of naught but Her.

LOVE is all there is.

God is LOVE.

God is in every thought,
every word, every deed,
every person, place or thing.

Look for God today
and you will see that everything
is already okay, everything is already perfect,
everything is already whole
exactly as it is.

Thought for the Day

Given that the purpose
of our precious human life is to awaken
to the truth of our being,
what, then, are our options?

(1)

Be an incorrigible jerk, living as though
you are the epicenter of the universe
and everyone else needs to just suck it up
and kowtow to your demands.

(2)

Be an angry, bitter person
who bellows over the injustices of the world,
the unfairness of life,
living in a perpetual state of "if only..."

(3)

Work very very hard to change the world,
to right the wrongs,
believing that the most likely way
for you to be truly happy and fulfilled
is if others change, if life itself changes,
and if you can create a world
which is more 'fair,'
according to your standards.

(4)

Work at becoming the best version
of you that you possibly can.
When difficult things happen,
which you recognize inevitably do,
get through them the best you can,
keep your chin up, keep on keeping on,
one foot in front of the other,
for being a truly good person
is the epitome of a noble and godly life.

(5)

Give yourself with complete and utter
tenderness and openness to whatever arises
within your experience, resisting nothing,
bravely yielding to and embracing everything,
in recognition that there are no mistakes
and that everything is here
for your enlightenment, for your freedom.

Thus, living a life which is driven
by the singular desire
to see just how naked and intimately
you can give yourself and be with
whatever is as it is with a heart
which knows no bounds,

***

Which of the above most clearly reflects
how you actually do live your life
in this world, and which do you suspect
most clearly represents
the pinnacle of human experience,
the marriage of one's divinity
with their humanity, the union
of heaven and earth?

July 10, 2018

Thought for the Day

While great care has been taken
to demonstrate that the universe’s love for you
literally knows no bounds,
more clarity is needed.

You see a horrible world,
a world which is plagued with injustice,
ruled by petty demagogues
who care for nothing and no one
other than their own agendas.

In this world, everything
is a mockery to the truth
and the love of God.

You feel you navigate this world alone,
struggling to find others
worthy of your trust,
who share the same views,
who are willing to stand
and fight with you
shoulder to shoulder
in a valiant but futile attempt
to right the never-ending list of wrongs.

Time and again,
despair comes and dashes your hopes
for a better world, a fairer world,
and kinder world, as deeper fear arises.

What if I am next?

What if it comes for me and mine,
snatching from my hand the meager crumbs
to which I cling?

So while you think that
this is the world in which you live,
a world which is much at odds
with everything you believe
and for which you stand,
there is a need to remind you
that truth is kind and wise,
and above all, fair.

But what has not been emphasized
as yet, is that the universe cares not
about your comfort, it is concerned only
with your freedom.

And to that end,
it will use every means at its disposal
to get your attention.

And since the Absolute
is without limit, nothing short of everything
is potential fuel for the fodder
of your awakening.

It takes what it takes
to get you to see
that the problem isn’t the world,
it is with the one
who thinks he is experiencing it.

When we see this,
when we get it all the way down
to our toenails, we have become teachable
and are ready for truth.

How much suffering and misery
will it take for you to be willing
to give nothing short of everything
to be free of the sufferer?

Mercy for us all.

Thought for the Day

All suffering, and I do mean
every single bit of it,
is mind generated.

This means that when you think
that you perceive suffering---
anytime and anywhere,
be it in yourself, or what you perceive
as another or this world,
it is to your mind that you must look,
for here the answer lies.

God wills no one suffer.

Ever.

Open the prison door of your mind
and set the prisoners free!

For so long have you kept
the prisoners locked away,
refusing them the gentle mercy
of the light, which would surely
heal them all, if only you wished
to be freed of the misery
of the mind generated sense of self.

What are these prisoners?

They are your beliefs, your judgments,
the insistence upon the existence
of both good and evil, right and wrong,
your defenses, every hard and flinty
stance you have ever taken
and maintained, those areas
where you have refused to budge
or listen to reason, all the self-pity,
fear and guilt, anger and self-deception,
as well as every dogmatic view
that you have mistaken
for the truth.

Is believing you are right
and holding onto your positionalites
really worth the price
you pay for them?

Allow the mystery of grace
to begin to heal you.

You cannot heal yourself.

But you must want to be healed.

Allow transformation to occur
without your interference
and it will come.

It will come!

For truth is here, my darlings,
truth is here,

And She will save you
from the self you only think you made,
lifting you gently unto Her heart,
whispering lovingly, calling you by
your true name, revealing
the Home you never left,
which never left you.

***

Prayer for the Day

Take all of me.

I open this mind, this heart,
my entire being unto Thee, oh God.

I lay my entire sense of self bare---
naked, emptied, prostrate
before Thy Light!

Mercy...I plead for mercy,
for I would SEE,
I would truly SEE.

Let me wash forever
on Thy shores, no life but Thine,
undifferentiated and unobscurated
to live on in this frame You made.

Amen

July 8, 2018

Thought for the Day

Sunday is practice day.

Let us return today to the question
which was posed earlier
this week:

"I feel the need to find a loving way
to ease the pain in the world
that I am presently seeing.
How can that be done
while I am also trying to change
the way in which I am seeing it?"

Is it not evident that the problem
in the supposition of a question
such as this it that the decision
to not awaken, to not see truly,
has already been clearly made.?

If awakening can only happen
in this moment,
then we need to be scrutinizing
what is happening in our minds
in the here and now
with great care and genuineness,
with an openness
which is entirely welcoming
of what is.

For whatever is showing up
in our world, in this moment,
is a demonstration of the universe's
great love and will for our freedom.

Can we meet it with open arms,
with great tenderness
and vulnerability, can we trust
that life knows exactly what it is doing
and has our freedom
as its only aim, that it is indeed busy
caring for all of its creation?

The great enemy of true seeing
is the belief in time.

If we argue for our limitations,
then they most certainly are ours.

And if we have accepted the positionality
of a limited and separate self,
(a) our sight will be limited
to what that self is capable of seeing,
and (b) enlightenment can never happen
because we have cast
the possibility of our ever seeing clearly
into a nebulous and non-existent future.

Thus, our assignment for today
is to scrutinize with great care
what we are doing now.

Enlightenment may well be
a happy accident,
but there are certainly thngs
which we can do that have a tendency
of making us more accident prone.

This great care with what we do
with our attention is point.

And what do we do
when we find that we are
no longer on point, that we are indeed
off galavanting in time, and by thus,
lolly gagging in the weeds?

Return to point!

For how can you stop
un-enlightening yourself
unless you see clearly
what you are doing in this very moment
to sabotage yourself?

***

Quote for the Day

"What would you see?
The choice is given you.
But learn and do not let your mind forget
this law of seeing: You will look upon
that which you feel within.
If hatred finds a place within your heart,
you will perceive a fearful world,
held cruelly in death’s sharp-pointed,
bony fingers. If you feel the Love of God within you,
you will look out on a world
of mercy and of love."

Thought for the Day

Pay no heed to thoughts and thinking.

Their purpose is to defeat you;
luring you into a life of witless self-deception,
ever trapped in a world that
is not real.

Be honest with yourself.

Are you satisfied
with what it tells you that
you are?

Are you satisfied
with it's petty offerings?

Are you satisfied
with its ruthless judgments
and distorted perceptions?

Slyly it advises you:

You cannot afford
to let your guard down,
you cannot truly trust anyone
or anything completely,
for that will lead only
to hurt and disappointment, betrayal,
and eventually to abandonment
where you find yourself
 all alone again.

Can you really live with this?

Is this enough for you?

Only one who has truly looked at this
with radical self honesty
has the courage and the inner fortitude
to walk away from the mind
in favor of the unknown.

Here it is clearly seen
that you do not stand in darkness
searching for the light, for all the while,
you were simply standing in the light
with your hands covering your eyes.

Thought for the Day

It is no one else's job
to love you.

It is your job to love you.

It is no one else's job
to respect or appreciate you,
it is yours.

And when you no longer
move through this life
ensconced within a hardened
and self-protective shell,
constantly fearing lack
and guarding agains potential loss,
when you recognize that nothing
can diminish your worth
because your worth is not determined
by what you think or feel, nor by
anyone or anything else for that matter,
but by the Absolute with which you are One
and what It says you forever are,
you will have at last learned
something of the nature
of real and changeless peace,
of true power and boundless freedom.

When you move into each experience
or encounter you have in this life
with the intention of your spiritual growth,
of expansion and deepening into light
firmly established in your heart
and guiding you, regardless
of what seems to be playing out
in the arena of form,
then respect, kindness, worth,
appreciation, treasure and love
are what you learn
from your experience because
that is what you are teaching.

You do not learn from what happens,
you learn from what you teach,
and everyone and everything
learns from you on the basis
of your chosen teacher.

All of life is blessed
when you interact with conscious awareness
of the message you are teaching.

Unconscious behavior
on the part of anyone has no effect
on your ability to honor and bless
the preciousness and value of the soul within,
nor can it prevent their expansion
and growth as soul.

We leave you today
with the most important
idea of all:

Love is boundlessly expansive.

Your nature is love.

When it is said that charity
begins at home,
it means that it must begin
with your heart.

And it is from your heart
that it then expands to touch and bless
the world.

Thought for the Day
July 5, 2018

Yesterday I was asked the following question:

"Much compassion and love
and change is needed in the world that I see.
And I am willing to admit that there is a problem
in the way I am seeing "my" world.
However, I feel the need to find a loving way
to ease the pain in the world I am presently seeing.
How can that be done
while I am also trying to change
the way in which I am seeing it?"

Here we must differentiate
between learning that is ego directed
and learning that is soul directed.

When learning is directed by ego,
it always sees a problem 'out there,'
in need of remedy of some kind.

And so it jumps to find
a human solution
to a human problem.

Learning which is directed by the soul
automatically knows
that everything that shows up
in the arena of one's experience
is here for their own growth
and spiritual expansion.

Submitting itself to the light,
it allows healing to enter into
every darkened corner of the mind
which it inhabits, allowing
its vehicle to be transformed
into a fitting instrument of healing
for the world.

And from that space
it knows instinctively what to do.

I will offer a human example.

Yesterday I went to P.F. Changs
for lunch with a spiritual friend.

I rarely go out to eat,
but I had received a coupon
for 25 cent lettuce wraps
in honor of their 25th anniversary.

The restaurant was ice box cold.

The waiter was clumsy
and forgetful.

A half hour after we had begun our meal.
an Indian family, consisting of a grandfather,
a mother, and a 3 year old child
were seated in the booth next to us
and the child was definitely not
a happy camper, as she screamed
and cried inconsolably.

My companion wrestled
with her reaction to what was happening.

The grandfather got up and came to me
not once, not twice, but three times
to apologize profusely
for the child's behavior.

The waiter apologized,
would promise to bring us something
we had requested
and promptly forget to do so
because he was struggling to keep
all the orders and needs
of his customers straight, as the restaurant
(to which we had arrive early)
began to fill up and get very loud
and very busy.

And then there was a moment.

A moment so mysterious
and mystical
when it was recognized
what I had come there to learn
that day at that time
in that situation.

I came to learn
how to be a lover of God
so that God could be a lover
of His children,
reminding them they are not
their characters nor their stories
but beloved children of the Most High.

And so this body became larger
than the restaurant,
larger even than Dallas,
or the universe for that matter
and simply loved all of life
and shed its light and tenderness
on everyone and everything
in that moment.

To my companion, it was an opportunity
for her to see demonstrated
how to be in this world
but not of it.

To the grandfather it may have
looked like someone bringing their hands
into prayer position
and reassuring him that his granddaughter
was a child and doing what children do.

To the waiter it looked like
a customer that was always forgiving
and told him he could do this
because he was so so very good at his job.

To everyone in the restaurant
it may have looked like a smile
and a wish for a happy 4th,
but to this heart
it knew that the shining blessing
of a benevolent God
had come to kiss the feet
of everyone who had come
there on this day at this time
to start their own healing journey.

Know this:

You are useless to this world
and to yourself
if you keep reinforcing ego
and interacting with the world
on the level of ego,
rather than realizing
you must get your own house in order
or you cannot be anything
other than part of the problem
which plagues humanity.

What is that problem?

Human beings have forgotten
Who and What they are
and you are here to remember for them
and teach them what you have learned
by being an embodiment
of the good the beautiful, the holy.

Transform me into a vessel
fully fitting to Thy purpose.

Thought for the Day

Your practice for today
is quite simple.

For those who are familiar with it,
the practice resembles a variation
to Tonglen.

First, we will learn how
to apply it to ourselves.

Whenever unhappiness arises
in any form, be it the urge to argue
when you feel that you are right,
or you try to defend yourself, or perhaps another,
in order to protect your position
or point of view, when you feel the urge
to manipulate or control
in order to try change what is happening,
or you seek to distract yourself
or run away, to armor up
and protect yourself,
or simply to numb yourself
through some addictive behavior,
stop what you are about to do
and hit the pause button.

Be willing to ask yourself
with deep honesty the following question
and be prepared to look
until you find an equally honest answer:

What is it that I do not like here
and what is it that I really want
to see happen?

When you have seen clearly
the answer to your question,
pause and ask another question:

Is this what I would choose
to replace Heaven and the peace of God?

Whenever you observe unhappiness
in any form today,
pause and extend your blessing:

My friend...I wish for you
the peace of God.

Many times throughout your day,
pause and take a moment
to extend this blessing upon all creation.

May everyone be happy.

May everyone be free of suffering.

May all experience
the peace of God.

And as you lay in bed tonight
before you fall asleep,
explore all the things for which you wish,
what you yet desire, and ask yourself this:

If I were given carte blanche
and could have absolutely anything
this world has to offer what would it be?

Then ask yourself:

What if it really were true,
that I had to choose either or,
what would my choice be?

Is this what I would choose
to replace Heaven and the peace of God?

Life is so simple when we become
clear, when we become very very clear.

Never delude yourself about what is at stake
in each and every instant
of your precious life.

For you have the power
to be the changer of worlds.

Quote for the Day

"It is this one intent we seek today,
uniting our desires with the need of every heart,
the call of every mind,
the hope that lies beyond despair,
the love attack would hide,
the brotherhood that hate has sought to sever,
but which still remains as God created it.
With Help like this beside us, can we fail today
as we request the peace of God be given us?'"

Prayer for the Day

I want the peace of God.

Thought for the Day

Gosh, are you ready
for another day of practicing?

The spiritual ego,
and anyone consciously participating
in the spiritual journey
has one with which he must
contend and learn to recognize
with great clarity and integrity,
is not to be mistaken for
the light of the soul
or one's true Self.

How do we go about learning
the difference between the two?

How can we clearly tell
one from the other?

This too is quite simple.

Anyone with an ounce of clarity
can observe the spiritual ego
hard at work in this world.

For the spiritual ego believes
that it is its responsiblity
to find some way
to get rid of all the darkness
in this world.

And you will see the spiritual ego
working very very hard
to try to change the world
by challenging the amoral
and trying to push the agenda of change
towards its values
through the force of will
and by shaming the darkness
for its blatant debauchery.

It feels that there is a great battle
ensuing between the forces of light
and the forces of darkness,
and that it is here to bring
that light to every darkened mind
and wanton act that happens
on this planet---a mission
that it must not fail to accomplish.

And thus it suits up and shows up
for battle each day
trying to be brave, trying to be strong,
trying valiently to right every wrong
and overcome every depraved
and dishonorable act,
believing firmly that by doing so
that it is clearing a pathway for the light.

But the soul sees all of this
commotion quite differently.

The soul or true Self
knows quite unequivocally
that there is no such battle going on.

Your true Self knows
that it is here to redeem consciousness
which has become darkened
by the blight of ego from its misery
and its pain by bringing it back
gently to the light.

It never ever uses force,
nor does it engage on the level of duality.

It stands in the might and the glory
of the power of light, of the power of love.

It recognizes that it is forever
a part of the One Power and True Authority
as is everything which lives.

And from this infinite space,
it listens for the most creative,
loving, kind, wise, sensitive
and authentic way
to remind everything
through its gentle presence
of their shared identity
and true nature.

Our earth is weeping
and her cries can be heard
echoing on the moon.

What she yearns for is a heart-centered
way of conducting oneself
through life, a way that ends misery,
that devours darkness,
that restores sublime peace
through the simple awareness of light.

Here, then, is your mission.

Can you notice today
when you are trying to plough your way
through life's perceived problems
and difficulties, righting the wrongs,
tilting at windmills,
and rather, relax, let go, breathe deeply
and expand your light
by remembering what is true
for all of us?

Are you up for the challenge?

Will you take the baton?

***

Prayer for the Day

I sincerely believe that
we could change the world
in a single instant
if we would only
practice the Presence of God.

So may I live forevermore.

Amen

Thought for the Day

Another day of practice
is called for today.

All your life, you have been
so habitually focused upon the negative,
upon your imperfections, your flaws,
and those of others,
that you have forgotten how
to truly SEE and FEEL.

Today is all about remembering---
remembering what you already know
deep down inside; a truth
about yourself and of life
that you have only
temporarily misplaced.

It is because the negative way of seeing
is so familiar to you, so reflexive,
you have unbeknownst drawn
a very erroneous conclusion:

That what is most familiar
is the easiest.

It is not.

It is like carrying a sack of rocks
on your back and wondering why
you feel so tired, depleted,
lost and confused most of the time.

Today we change that tide.

Whenever you notice that
this is happening again,
stop everything.

Pause.

Open your mind
and your heart.

Allow the highest frequencies
of love and light
to penetrate your being
and pull you HOME.

It does not take
more than an instant or two
for you to draw from the well
of eternal life.

Drink deeply.

Allow boundless peace, healing
and infinite well being
to return to your awareness.

For they are always there.

They are always there
and they are always available.

No matter how asleep at the wheel
someone may appear to be,
the truth is alive and well,
and shining effulgently in their hearts,
waiting but to be remembered.

Remember, you are GIFT.

It is for this that you took birth.

This is what you came to bring,
that you might join
the great and endless circle of light
whose singular mission is to restore
the awareness of peace
to mother earth
and her inhabitants.

***

Prayer for the Day

I will be still a moment
and go HOME;
that I might bring the awareness
of Heaven to all beings
and help establish peace
on earth.

Today I am not a part of the problem.

I live at the causal point
of the solution.

Amen

July 1, 2018

Thought for the Day

Sunday is practice day.

How do you break
the mesmeric and hypnotic sway
that the world of separateness
and differences, also known as
duality, holds over you?

You will begin to discover
the answer to this question
with today's practice.

Your mission is to be deeply attuned
to your inner experience of life
and take honest note of
when the inner experience
is hallmarked by the state of openness
versus that of opposition.

The telltale signs
of the state of openness
are love, compassion and freedom,
while the sure signs of opposition
are resistance, struggle,
unhappiness and attack.

When it it clear that
you are actively opposing what is,
fall back and feel yourself
melting like wax dripping from a candle.

Remember to breathe slowly and deeply,
and see if you can feel
your heart begin to open
as you reach out from the heart space
to join with what you
were formerly opposing.

This is all.

Yet this is the difference between
heaven and hell.

May your practicing be blessed.

And may you feel
the presence of angels
supporting every noble
and sincere attempt.

For nothing is transcended by force;
but through gentleness, kindness,
and tender heartfelt openness---
but most of all, with love.

Everything is transformed
in the presence of love.

***

Prayer for the Day

Make me an instrument
today and all days.

Amen
